I thought I would add this little hint which I always find useful, if you want to delete, or close multiple web parts from your SharePoint page

Append the following to your url:  ?contents=1

http://litwaredemo/sites/BDC/default.aspx

becomes

http://litwaredemo/sites/BDC/default.aspx?contents=1

here you can select which web parts to remove in one fell swoop!
